You have probably heard the incredible cost of driver-fatigue related accidents before but as a refresher, in the U.S., the National Highway Safety Administration (NHSTA) estimates that annually driver fatigue contributes to:
100,000 Accidents,
1,550 Deaths,
71,000 Injuries
$1.25 Billion in losses
To reduce these numbers,, an electronic products supplier, recently announced the Alert Band monitor. Attached to the driver’s forehead, the wearable device senses fatigue and communicates via Bluetooth to help prevent accidents. Recipients of the real-time notifications and alarms can include the driver’s smartphone, family and friends, as well as social networks. Using a numbering system, from 0 (fully awake) to 100 (you should not be driving) to indicate the user’s fatigue level, the Alert Band monitors and analyzes the wearer’s brainwaves.
