P+FarticleThat is clear object detection. GLV18 Series photoelectric sensors with Clear Object Detection use reflectors to detect transparent objects up to 2.5 m away, or opaque objects up to 5 m away.

Offered in an industry-standard M18 threaded cylindrical housing, the sensor is up to 50% shorter. In addition, the company claims the power consumption is 50% less than many competitive models.

The sensors can detect clear shrink-wrap webs or semi-transparent trays or cartons in material handling applications as well as the presence detection of clear clamshells, bottles, or pouch webstock in packaging applications.

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces KC Signal Conditioners. With a slim 12.5mm wide footprint the KC modules are the most compact signal conditioners available today, with low power consumption that reduces heat output when compared with competitive signal conditioners. This makes them an ideal signal conditioning option in control rooms with limited space in both hazardous area, as well as general purpose locations.

Pepperl+Fuchs KC Signal Conditioners
The SIL rated KC modules deliver broad range with 3-port isolation, and are easily programmed and configured in the field with pushbutton or dip switch logic functions. They provide limit detection with form C alarm contacts, as well as fault detection and alarm functionality. Additional features include:
–Loop-powered and analog isolators
–Removable terminals reduce maintenance
–Lower cost of ownership compared to the competition
—>In a large project, KC modules smaller size can potentially reduce the number of cabinets required, eliminating the costs of additional cabinet hardware and wiring
—>Because KC modules consumes less power, users may be able to use smaller power supplies than would otherwise be required
—>Consuming less power reduces heat generation, and less heat means smaller cooling systems, further reducing cabinet space requirements

The key to process control is accuracy, both in terms of measurement and signal conditioning. The biggest threat to effective process control is the presence of ground loops. Whenever analog data is transferred through long cable runs, there is a high probability that ground loop problems will occur. A ground loop exists when multiple earth ground connections are made in a system. A difference in potential between the grounds generates an extraneous current flow in the signal conductor. The result is commonly known as noise.

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs Dura-Vue™ MLV12 Series Photoelectric Sensors are now available in diffuse mode with background evaluation. Dura-Vue background evaluation sensors provide a sensing range from 50 mm to 150 mm, with a 4 mm light spot that enables these sensors to detect even the smallest targets. They are engineered to detect all targets regardless of color or shape, making them well suited for use in material handling and packaging applications.

Dura-Vue™ series sensors feature a harsh-duty IP67 rated metal-framed housing with swivel connector, and deliver reliable operation in temperatures as low as -40°F. Users will also benefit from highly visible front and rear LED status indicators, cross-talk protection and high immunity to ambient light.

With Pepperl+Fuchs patented 4-in-1™ outputs, stocking and installation is significantly simplified because the sensor automatically sinks or sources its current based on the connected load. Alignment is easy with the aid of a visible red light source, while a potentiometer facilitates quick adjustments to the sensing range, as needed.

Background evaluation photoelectric sensors work by establishing a light path to a reference background object and back to the sensor. Targets are detected when they pass in front of the sensor and disrupt the light path. Even rounded or curved targets that otherwise may reflect light away from the sensor, and targets with poor reflectivity, are reliability detected.

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces X-Series Pile Driver™ Extended Range Inductive Sensors. These robust sensors are available in 12mm, 18mm and 30mm diameters to deliver sensing ranges of 5mm, 10mm or 15mm – up to 2.5 times longer range than traditional inductive sensors. 100% stainless steel housings deliver durability more than 20 times that of the competition’s brass and plastic housings. Black Armor™ coated weld-immune models are also available.

X-Series Pile Driver’s extended sensing field is a big benefit in automotive manufacturing applications, as it enables reliable detection of irregularly shaped contours, and increased sensor-to-target distances help eliminate contact-related scuffing of “Class A” hood, door and trunk surfaces. Weld-immune models are uniquely capable of providing long range part detection with full immunity to both AC and DC weld fields, and repelling weld splatter.

X-Series Pile Driver’s can detect all metals. Advanced circuitry enables restriction-free mounting while delivering the highest available immunity to the effects of industrial noise and temperature extremes. Unlike traditional inductive sensors that are limited to IP67/68 protection, X-Series Pile Driver sensors are IP69k-rated to withstand high pressure washdown cleaning.

Weld Cap Sensors

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces WTS10 Weld Cap Sensors. These diffuse mode sensors check the quality of welding cap fronts and detects faults such as inclusions, faulty dressing or burrs. These sensors provide high stability against discrepancies in the position and angle of the welding cap. They check upper and lower welding caps simultaneously and provide pre-fault (near the limit) indication for proactive maintenance to help improve welding productivity. A push-button teach mode facilitates quick and easy sensor programming.

weld cap sensor

WTS sensors feature a scratch-resistant mineral glass lens and provide superior position (± 2mm) and tilt angle tolerance (± 1.5°). They also provide a consistent detection range of 2 – 12mm regardless of the length of the welding cap, or whether the welding cap is brand new or a fully dressed tip. Highly visible LEDs provide quick and easy to understand status indication for “good,” “pre-fault” and “fault” weld tip status.

Coaxial optics with parallel beam path, a new display concept with easy to read and understand status indication, greater switching accuracy, a uniform light spot over the entire sensing range, and a high positional and tilting angle tolerance characterize the sensor.

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces Mobile Equipment Sensors. These IP69K rated inductive proximity sensors are shock test rated to 50G for reliable operation in high shock and vibration environments, can operate in extreme cold (-40°) and heat (+85°C/+185°F), and feature 10x more powerful radiated field immunity than standard sensors to satisfy the demanding performance criteria set forth in IEC and SAE mobile equipment standards. They are fully compatible with Deutsch, Weatherpack (Packard) and Amp/Tyco connectors.

pepperl mobile sensors

Mobile Equipment sensors are available in 12, 18 and 30 mm diameters to deliver 4, 8 and 15mm sensing ranges, respectively. The extended sensing range of up to 15mm facilitates increased target-to-sensor separation, which significantly reduces accidental impacts to maximize uptime. Load dump circuitry protects the sensor against power spikes during machine start-up, which is particularly significant when the sensor is powered directly from a battery. Additionally, they feature heavy-gauge, cut-proof PUR cables that are unaffected by oil, grease and other fluids common to such applications.

Mobile Equipment sensors are specifically engineered to overcome the environmental challenges common to truck, bus, crane, lawn mowing, fork lift and other mobile equipment applications. Their ability to reliably operate in extreme temperatures also makes them well suited for use in nearly any outdoor environment, or in freezers where standard sensors with a typical -25°C rating are unsuitable for use.
