STMicroelectronics has introduced ST SafeSense VD56GA, a 1.1 MP automotive image sensor for infrared driver and occupant monitoring. Housed in a 3.7 mm × 3.2 mm CSP package, the sensor includes embedded image-processing functions, supports RAW and YUV outputs and uses the ST DeepNIR pixel architecture for infrared imaging. Its integrated functions include mirror, crop, dark calibration, auto exposure and piecewise-linear processing to reduce the need for external image-processing resources.
