Reed switch line expanded to include 9.0 mm x 2.5 mm x 2.4 mm option

September 30, 2024 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

Littelfuse, Inc. offers the 59177 Series overmolded reed switch, engineered for space-constrained applications. This switch has dimensions of 9.0 mm x 2.5 mm x 2.4 mm (0.354″ x 0.098” x 0.094″) and is capable of handling up to 170 Vdc or 0.25 A at up to 10 W. Designed to operate without power consumption, the 59177 Series aims to provide energy efficiency benefits, particularly in battery-powered devices.

The 59177 Series features an overmolded design that provides mechanical shock and vibration resistance. Its low-profile design and SMD package allow for integration using standard pick-and-place machines. The switch is designed to function in wet and harsh environments and maintain performance over its service life. It exhibits no leakage current in the ‘open’ state.

The 59177 Series features a J-type feet (lead) design and is engineered to withstand mechanical shock and vibration. This design aim is to provide flexibility for applications with challenging mechanical environments while potentially reducing space requirements on printed circuit boards. The switch is designed for use in various applications, including security and access control systems, metering devices, battery-powered consumer electronics and wearables, factory automation equipment, process machinery, and proximity and limit sensing devices.

The 59177 Reed Switch Series is available in tape and reel quantities of 1500 pieces, with samples available through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide.
