Absolute Encoders Fit in Cramped Application Spaces

October 28, 2014 By Randy Frank

SICK’s AHS/AHM36 absolute encoders are only 36 mm in diameter. The single-turn and multi-turn magnetic encoders have a 270° rotating M12 connector or cable outlet for easier installation in limited spaces. SICK AHS36Available products include: face mount flange, servo flange and blind hollow shaft versions each with five different shaft diameters and various adapters.

With either SSI or CANopen communications, the sensors have intelligent diagnostic functions, such as velocity, temperature and power on counter. These encoders are able to withstand dust, water jets and temperatures from -40°C to 100°C and are available with an enclosure rating up to IP 67,
