Lighting Management IC Integrates Sensor

January 22, 2015 By Randy Frank Leave a Comment

ams_PP_AS721x_RGB-smallIntegration of sensor technology to accomplish or simplify specific tasks is among the innovations that can be expected as Internet of Things (IoT) concepts are exploited. Integration at the IC level means smaller components that can integrate into the end products that previously did not have connectivity or had a more restricted functionality. With its AS721x Autonomous Daylighting Manager, ams AG allows luminaire, light engine and replacement lamp manufacturers to address energy-saving lighting mandates.

Promoted as the industry’s first integrated chip-scale IoT-connected smart lighting manager, the AS721x integrates photopic sensors built with nano-optic filters with IoT connectivity and control capabilities into a single IC. The size of the IC, either in a 20-pin 2.1 x 2.3mm chip-scale and 4.5 x 4.7mm land grid array package, allows it to easily be integrated into the lighting product.
