Melexis MLX92221 (latch) and MLX92241 (switch) Hall Effect sensors include EEPROM memory for customer programming of several parameters. This allows the setting of magnetic switch points, output polarity, IOFF current and magnet material temperature compensation coefficient.
Melexis engineers designed the core magnetic sensor circuit in the new sensor platform with a special attention on the offset cancellation system. This means faster and more accurate processing that is unaffected by temperature. A programmable negative temperature coefficient compensates for the natural behavior of permanent magnets to become weaker at elevated temperatures.
Automotive applications for the Hall Effect sensors include: seat positioning systems, seat adjusters, seatbelt buckle switches, wipers and motor commutation systems.
