The large and rapidly growing smartphone, tablet, and health and fitness devices market can take advantage of advanced motion sensing technology. At the 2013 International CES, several companies announced new products to address these applications.
With proprietary calibration and sensor fusion algorithms, Kionix KMX61G is a 6-axis device can provide 9-axis accelerometer, magnetometer (e-compass) and gyro outputs. The accelerometer-magnetometer sensor uses its sensor fusion software to provide highly accurate gyro emulation that reduces power consumption to only 550 µA. In addition, the e-compass device with auto-calibration software delivers high sensitivity (0.05 µT/count) with stability over temperature (± 0.05 %/°C).
