Balluff has expanded its Factor 1 series of inductive proximity sensors to include a weld-immune Factor 1+ version with longer sensing distances. A PTFE coating helps protect the sensor from weld slag and weld flash generated during the welding process. Factor 1+ sensors use a multi coil design. This enables the sensing of both ferrous and non-ferrous at the same distance without de-rating the sensing distance based on target material.
The changes in a traditional Factor 1 weld field immune flush sensor are:
M8 was 1.5 mm, now 2 mm
M12 was 3 mm, now 4 mm
M18 was 5 mm, now 8 mm and 12 mm
M30 – was 10 mm now 15 mm
