Interfacing position sensors in industrial servo and AC inverter drives can be challenging. With its TMS320F28379D and TMS320F28379S microcontrollers (MCUs), an expansion to its C2000™ Delfino™ MCUs, and DesignDRIVE Position Manager technology, Texas Instruments has addressed the challenges. The design approach supports both digital and analog position sensors for industrial applications.
By completing the decode tasks on-chip and reducing the communication latency, the solution enables faster control loop performance. Combined with DesignDRIVE Position Manager technology, the MCUs are easily interfaced to position sensors.
TI worked with position sensor supplier HEIDENHAIN to test the on-chip solution for compatibility and ability to interface to EnDat2.2, BiSS-C, Resolver and SIN/COS sensors.
