Ultrasonic sensors from Telemecanique Sensors

October 9, 2019 By Mike Santora

XXUltrasonicUnlike conventional sensing technologies, ultrasonic technology is not adversely affected by the type of material to be detected, the color or shape of the detection target, or the environmental conditions during detection. Suitable for packaging machines, material handling, and machine tools, ultrasonic sensing is based on the detection of a high frequency ultrasonic wave reflected by the detection target.

Telemecanique Sensors has announced the release of new XX ultrasonic sensor models to offer expanded possibilities and even greater functionalities for its customers. The extended line of sensors includes detection ranges of 1m, 2m, 4m and 8m, in a straight M30 cylindrical format and 90° head versions in selected models for increased flexibility.

Other key benefits for the Mobile Equipment industry users include:

A high immunity to electromagnetic interference: The new XX ultrasonic sensor line is E2 certified, giving it superior immunity in even the most demanding environments.

Detection of small targets and curved surfaces: The new XX sensor’s tilt angle and high sensitivity helps detect even the most challenging of targets, including targets previously troublesome to ultrasonic technology.

Detection over a large coverage area: Multiple XX sensors can now be installed close to one another without the risk of cross-talk due to the ‘synchronization’ feature. This helps to enlarge the overall detection area.

Finally, to make custom or advanced ultrasonic sensor configurations easier, a new version of the XX Ultrasonic software is available. The easy-to-use graphic interface allows users to install, maintain, and perform soft adaptations on the sensor quickly and efficiently.

Other key characteristics of the new ultrasonic sensors from Telemecanique Sensors are listed below.
• Sensing distances: 1m, 2m, 4m and 8m
• Output signal: PNP, Analog 4-20mA or Analog 0-10V. NPN version available in the 8m range.
• Operating temperature: -25°C – 70°C
• Degree of protection: IP67
• Electrical connection: 5-pin M12 connector
• Available in Plastic, Ni-plated Brass & SS316L tubes
• Certifications: CE, E2, cULus, EAC, RCM
