It’s January 2014 and that means that the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is happening in Las Vegas and attending companies including sensor suppliers will be announcing new products. For mobile applications, Bosch Sensortec announced the BME280 sensor that combines pressure, humidity and temperature measurement capability in a single package. An 8-pin metal-lid 2.5 x 2.5 x 0.93 mm3 land grid array (LGA) package houses the sensing functions. The integrated temperature sensor is primarily used for temperature compensation of the absolute barometric pressure and humidity sensors, but it can also be used for estimating ambient temperature.
