Industrial cameras now with IP67 Option

December 7, 2020 By Mike Santora

Matrix-Vision-CameraBalluff’s portfolio of GigE and USB3 industrial cameras ensure tack-sharp images and high-quality inspection results with faster processing and higher resolutions than smart cameras.

Part of the machine vision portfolio from Matrix Vision, a brand of Balluff, they are available in color or monochrome at four resolutions — 1.6 MP, 3.2 MP, 5.1 MP, and 12.4 MP — and focal lengths from 5 to 50 mm. These industrial cameras provide powerful quality control, identification, error proofing, traceability, and image processing.

The GigE version comes in an IP67 housing and can be combined with shock- and vibration-resistant lenses, making them especially useful in the automotive, packaging, food, and beverage industries. Images are transmitted via gigabit Ethernet over distances up to 100 m using standard Cat5e cable without an amplifier. It offers four digital inputs and four outputs.

The USB3 version provides the same ease of use with five gigabits of bandwidth compared to the GigE’s one gigabits, though over shorter distances. It offers two digital inputs and four outputs.

Both versions use Balluff’s Cockpit software which features tools from the HALCON library. This runs on the required SmartVision controller.

Matrix Vision was acquired by Balluff in 2017.

Key features:
Optimized image data processing
Fast data processing based on the user-friendly Cockpit software
Standardized process interfaces TCP IP/UDP or Profinet for the controller
1.6 to 12 MP resolution
GigE version provides IP67 rating, shock- and vibration-resistance
