Designed to measure displacement between two gauge points on a target surface, Micron Optics os5100 displacement sensor is based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology. The gage measures displacement from zero to the 50 mm in steady-state environment. Two FBG sensors are housed within anodized aluminum enclosure that measures 152.4 x 76.2 x 44.5 mm.
Using the inherent characteristics of FBG sensor technology, the os5100 gage makes displacement measurements in real time without requiring additional temperature compensation. The optical sensor provides an alternative to vibrating wire gauges in applications such as continuous monitoring of construction joints and buildings, fissure growth in concrete or other structural members, and other long-term displacement measurements.
