In heavy equipment applications, the operator needs to know the exact location of relative moving parts at all times in order to prevent accidents. At the same time, the measurement technique must be rugged to survive. Leine & Linde designed its model PHE 900 encoder absolute encoder to address both of these areas. The inductive encoder has a solid aluminum housing and bearing design proven in extreme applications. Instead of mechanical gearing, the turn counting function is implemented via solid-state electronics with internal back-up power.
Communications with control electronics can be provided via DRIVE-CLiQ, EnDat, SSI, PROFIBUS and Incremental quadrature formats in both single and dual encoder implementations.
