Telecom, servers and central office equipment in the communications infrastructure are among the electronic products that needs precise power monitoring. To meet their needs, Texas Instruments (TI) developed a digital current sensor and voltage monitor with simultaneous sampling and SPI interface. Claimed to be a first to provide these capabilities, the LMP92064 integrates a precision current sense amplifier and two 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) channels. The ADCs simultaneously capture voltage and current data and a SPI transfers real-time data at up to 20 MHz.
Design-in tools available include the LMP92064 evaluation module (EVM) to demonstrate the functionality of the current shunt monitor and a SPICE model for designing, testing, and troubleshooting.
